Eastern Washington

In partnership with Side by Side, four mothers of adult children living with varying disabilities came together to learn empowering photography tools, mindfulness skills, and, ultimately, how to see their stories through a new lens.

Suzanne Veith

Suzanne Veith and her family have been “Cyber-Side-By-Siders,” since 2020, primarily participating in Morning Prayer on Wednesdays and Fridays, but loving and appreciating our Side-By-Side friends every day. She is wife to Larry and mama to Samuel (Rainbow Artist, 25 years old), Lily (graduating from University of Washington, 22 years old) and Benjamin (graduating from Whitworth University). She delights in God’s kingdom and enjoys his creation from their home at the base of Mount Rainier in Packwood, WA. Her favorite color is every color of blue, and her favorite flower is the peony. She is a doctor, and aspires to become a surfer someday.

Elizabeth Griffin

Elizabeth Griffin lives with her husband Jay, son Zack, and dogs Gaby and Izzy in Ellensburg so they can be as close as possible to their other son Taylor and his wife Cassidy and grandkids. She works full time as a writer. In her free time she gardens, reads, takes walks with Jay, talks with friends, and plays with her grandkids. She misses Side by Side and looks forward to moving back to Spokane in another year or two and being involved again.

Deborah Wardwell

Deborah Wardwell lives in Spokane, Wash. Taking a photography class helped her expand her photography from basic headshots to intentional photographs using the rule of thirds and symmetry, incorporating textures, patterns and lighting and capturing people (and animals) in more interesting contextualized settings. Taking time to craft a photograph helped her to be more present, observant and engaged in activities.
